Been exploring a bunch of different worlds the past few months. Here are some painting studies of the humble hard working honey bee, champion of the summer.

Several book covers in the works. Ever wonder how much sketching goes into figuring out what the image will be? Here’s a hint-

Also, a good book on the subject The Hand, by Frank Wilson.

Just handed in sketches for my series the next Data Pack of Android:Netrunner, the popular cyber-world card game. If you’re a player, you may be interested in learning how much interpretation goes into crafting each image, which is a genuine collaboration between the writers of the deck, how I and the other artists think to manifest their descriptions, followed by input and guidance from the very capable art director. Visualizing is tricky when you realize this is happening in another reality entirely. It’s also not uncommon for the printed card to be different from its original inception. Swordsman, for example, began as one of two sword/key cards called Snicker and Snack. Know the reference?

Crafting each piece so that they not only fulfill their role, but are captivating illustrations is the essential icing on the cake. A challenging and super and fun game to be part of.

Nearly there. Proofing pages from the adorably creepy kid’s book I’ve been working on for a year and a half, Fat & Bones and Other Stories, coming to bookshelves soon(ish)…
